Mayor Jason Morrison is pushing his WILD project to buy and turn over 30% of Wentworth property into the hands of others.  Here’s an excerpt from “THE MUNICIPALITY’S PLEDGE” to grab a “MINIMUM” of 3% of our taxes.

… the municipal council voluntarily pledges to reserve a minimum of 3% of its annual budget in a fund called the Wentworth Investment in Legacy Development (WILD). In 2021, that 3% would represent roughly $70,000 annually.

With the 2025 budget ballooning over $3 million, that means he’s going to give away at least $100 thousand of our taxes this year, and more and more … every year … FOREVER!

In addition to buying the land (with our taxes), he says it will require an additional 30% for “stewardship” costs. In other words, if he buys a property for $100 thousand, it will require another $30 thousand (from our taxes) for “stewardship”. Here’s a photo of this part of his pamphlet.

As if it’s not bad enough that we’re paying for “PUBLIC ACCESS“, none of the money stays in Wentworth. It gets funneled to an organization called “Philanthropie Laurentides”.  Here’s another part of his pamphlet

Next is a photo of part of the Philanthropie Laurentides website. They kindly say they’ll save us the “complexity” of managing OUR money.

They’ve already convinced others to hand over money to them. According to their 2024 Financial Statements, they took in $345 thousand, but spent only $200 thousand on actual projects. In other words, only 60 cents of every dollar Morrison wants us to hand over will come back to us. That’s a terrible Management Expense Ratio. To me it looks like a scam dressed up in an environmental disguise. Here’s a photo of their 2024 financial statement. That $200,000 on the top line went to the suckers like us, and that $345,000 on the bottom line is the total they spent. It must be nice to get paid $145,000 to save people the complexity of managing their own money.

The President of Philanthropie Laurentides, Andre Goulet, is the same person who invented the “Eco-corridors that Morrison wants to traverse Wentworth. Here’s a photo from his bio at their website.

By opening up Wentworth to the whole world (public access“), we will lose the peaceful end-of-the-road tranquillity we all love so much. Morrison tries to sell us on this anti-Wentworth idea by claiming it was born in Wentworth (see the article called “MAYOR GONE WILD“), whereas it’s actually a slick scheme being peddled all around the Laurentians.

To put it in its simplest terms, we are paying other people to take our money to create resources for other people.

About five years ago Morrison got scammed by a developer with a $2 billion plan, and he eagerly jumped on board to market the bogus project. Morrison is not a good manager of our money. There are only about 800 properties in Wentworth. Not only is he now spending over $3 million per year, but he’s putting us millions in debt.

I don’t fully trust him, and here’s another reason. He wants to build an expensive dam at the outlet of Lake Louisa. It’s probably going to end up costing $1 million. In an effort to appear democratic, he sent out a form to Louisa residents asking their opinion. The 1st question on the form reads as follows: “On a scale of 1 to 5, how important is the stability of your lake during heavy rainfall to you?”

In other words, the leading question brings up the spectre of flooding. However, flooding is impossible at Louisa. If you run water into a bathtub, the water will never get any higher than the edge of the tub. Louisa is exactly the same. There’s a broad spillway at the end, and any excess water simply flows over the edge. Even the engineer specifically hired for this project says in his Report: “Note that the large width of the outlet (about 20 m) is responsible for the small variation in water level.

Why does Morrison talk about flooding when he knows it’s impossible?

Morrison’s form also says a purpose of the dam is to “reduce erosion”.

However, that same Engineer’s Report says “The entire outlet area is stable, and no active erosion zone has been observed.”

In other words, erosion is another fake concern. But I guess if you can scare people with fears of flooding and erosion, it helps to get them to shell out $1 million.

Finally, it’s worth noting that Morrison’s form says: “We invite you to take a look at the engineer’s study report”.

However … good luck trying to find that report in the municipal website. It’s been disappeared. (Just like the traditional audio recordings of council meetings have been disappeared.)

I understand that being a Mayor is a complicated job. In addition to everything else, there are always competing interests. My guess is that Morrison wants the dam because some property owners have shallow lake frontage, and they somehow convinced him to make a big effort on their behalf. However they knew their frontage was shallow when they bought their properties. Because of that, they paid less. Why do they now deserve a boost in value at the expense of everyone else?

It’s true that the lake got low at the end of this Summer, but droughts are natural. The engineer studied Google Earth maps starting from 2007 and found that despite occasional periods of drought, the lake has remained unchanged. He could find no climate change effects in Wentworth. GeoEngineering projects like this dam bring risk of unintended consequences & unanticipated costs.

Apart from questions about the cost & validity of the projected dam, what I really don’t like are the sly deceptions being used by Morrison to try and get his way. If there’s one thing our Mayor should be, is someone we trust.

I could be a competent Mayor but I don’t want the job. Thank goodness there’s another man running who agrees with me on almost all of my policy goals. I’ve had numerous discussions with JAY BROTHERS, and he agrees on virtually every one of the policy goals.

JAY BROTHERS has my full endorsement, and I hope you all vote for him.
